Washington DC Memorials

It has been a several months since I have posted anything so here are a few things we have done since the last post in April.

Hunter has always wanted to go to Washington DC so this past June we took a family vacation to the White House.  He loved it there and has decided that is where he wants to live.  Here are a few of the places that we visited.

His most favorite place was the White House.  It is quite impressive.
Lincoln Memorial

Arlington Cemetary

Jefferson Memorial

World War II Memorial.  (My favorite.)

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Capital Building

Iwo Jima Memorial
Iwo Jima War Memorial

Washington DC Temple

One of the most, if not the most, beautiful buildings in Washington DC...the temple.

Washington DC's New Memorial

Earlier this year, the Roosevelt Memorial opened and it is very nice.  We visited it towards the end of the day and the perfect lighting only added to it. There are several beautiful waterfalls but unfortunately my pictures were lost.  It is definitely a memorial worth seeing.

Washington DC - Ford's Theatre

While in Washington DC we went to Ford's Theatre and it was great.  While working at The Venetian, I have had the pleasure of meeting several of the women who work at Ford's Theatre and they always offer a private tour any time I am in the area so while we were there, we took them up on the offer.  The Theatre was recently restored and looks amazing but our favorite part was the museum downstairs.  We were given a private after hours tour and it was the best part.  So many artifacts to see...even the actual gun that Booth used to shoot President Lincoln.

Gettysburg...Palmyra...Buffalo...Niagara Falls

After 4 days in Washington DC, we decided to go to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to see the battlefield then to Palmyra, New York to see Hill Cumorah, Joseph Smith's home and the Sacred Grove then we went to Niagara Falls, Canada then back to Buffalo, New York where we flew home from.  We had a lot of fun and Hunter is already planning a return trip.

Hiking In Moab

Hunter had never been to Moab and it had been 10 years since I had been so we decided to take a road trip.  It was a long drive but definitely worth it.  The view from "Delicate Arch" is amazing.
